Film Tampere in Finland has appointed its inaugural head of games with the goal of "connecting film and games creators"

The Tampere city region's film commission in Finland has made an appointment for their inaugural head of games.

Arto Kayhko, known for his extensive experience in mobile gaming and digital services, will work on enhancing the global presence of Tampere's burgeoning gaming sector as part of Film Tampere.

Kayhko's role also includes strengthening ties with Finland’s gaming sector and other digital content creatives.

The first collaboration between film and games in the Tampere area is a project called Alma, a cinematic action game created by Dreamloop Games and Making Movies. This game is based on an upcoming film that takes place in Finland during World War II. It follows a young girl who gains superpowers, which she utilizes to rescue her father from the warfront. However, eighty years later, Alma must face the consequences.

Fanny Heinonen of Film Tampere expressed excitement, saying, "We are tremendously proud to have attracted one of the brightest talents in Finland’s gaming industry to our cause of developing a unified future for Tampere's content creation industries."

Heinonen added that Kayhko's unique blend of expertise in gaming, digital, international, and financial fields, along with his skill in building stakeholder relationships, is crucial for uniting regional creative sectors and establishing robust partnerships.

With Kayhko’s contribution, the initiative is significantly closer to its goal of turning Tampere into a premier creative center.
