The BFI allocates an additional £2 million to the UK's independent screen industry

The British Film Institute has distributed 26 new grants as part of a £2.15 million ($2.65 million) program to support the UK's independent screen industry, encompassing sectors like video gaming.
These financial grants, provided by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) of the UK government, are designed to assist UK companies in fostering international partnerships, boosting their presence and reach globally, and expanding sales through exports.
Each granted amount, ranging from £50,000 ($61.6K) to £200,000 ($246K), is said to result in a £22 return on every £1 invested from the UK Global Screen Fund.
Fireblade Software, Hazimation, Hyper Luminal, Keelworks, and Wired Productions are among the entities that successfully procured funding this time. For some recipients, the grants will support the creation of positions such as programmers and production staff, while others will utilize the funds for business development purposes.
Denitsa Yordanova, head of the BFI's UK Global Screen Fund, stated, "The independent screen sector in the UK is rich in talent and ambition. This latest series of business development awards supports a wide array of companies and strategies, all geared towards achieving success in the global market."
