Sony has confirmed that live service projects planned by Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games have been canceled

Sony has decided not to proceed with two undisclosed live service games that were being developed by Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games.

According to Bloomberg, a company representative noted that the decision was made after a "recent review." Despite these cancellations, PlayStation remains committed to producing both online and single-player experiences.

The spokesperson stated, "Bend and Bluepoint are highly accomplished teams who are valued members of the PlayStation Studios family, and we are working closely with each studio to determine what are the next projects."

While the closures do not mean the end for either studio, the effects on staff and potential layoffs are not yet clear.

An internal memo, seen by Bloomberg, assured that Sony is "working closely with Bend and Bluepoint" and will "do everything we can to ensure there is minimal business impact."

Bend Studio has been affiliated as a key developer for Sony since 2000, most recognized for its work on the Days Gone series.

Bluepoint Games, integrated into Sony in 2021, is known for working on remasters and remakes, including titles such as Uncharted, God of War, and Demon's Souls.

In a previous move, Sony ceased sales of its live service hero shooter Concord shortly after it launched in August, with the servers deactivated on September 6.

Subsequent to that, in October, Sony decided to close down Firewalk Studios, the creator of Concord, along with Neon Koi due to a reevaluation of its "games portfolio and status of [its] projects."
