Microsoft reminded that, in 2021, CEO Satya Nadella publicly stated that gaming is an integral part of the corporation's business and a key focus area since its earliest days.
The Microsoft representative also denied rumors that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard did not lead to the growth of the gaming division and was disappointing. He cited financial reports indicating that Xbox's revenue only increased post-acquisition, with Activision Blizzard becoming the main growth driver. Additionally, on the release day of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, a record number of new subscribers joined Game Pass.
According to Microsoft, activity on Xbox platforms is currently at a record high level, with over 500 million monthly active players. This number was previously mentioned by the corporation in July 2024.
Microsoft did not comment on The Information's report regarding plans to increase Game Pass's audience to 100 million by 2030.
