TiMi Studio Group merged its internal studios into four divisions
TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of the Chinese giant Tencent, underwent reorganization. It significantly simplified its structure.
Honor of Kings
According to the Chinese newspaper National Business Daily, the company divided its studios into four units: TiMi J1, TiMi J3, TiMi L1, and TiMi T1.
Here is the new structure of TiMi Studio Group:
- TiMi J1 now includes studios TiMi J5, TiMi J6, TiMi F1, and TiMi G1. This division is responsible for games such as Pokémon UNITE, Metal Slug: Awakening, GKART, and Contra Returns;
- Studios TiMi Y1, TiMi Y2, and TiMi Y3 joined TiMi J3. Notably, all these studios were part of TiMi J3 until 2022, after which they were spun off into separate teams. Games under TiMi J3 include Delta Force and the Chinese versions of Call of Duty: Mobile and CrossFire;
- TiMi L1 now encompasses studio TiMi L2, which is engaged in Honor of Kings;
- TiMi T1 now works alongside TiMi T2. This division, in particular, assists Ubisoft in developing the mobile game Assassin’s Creed Jade.
- A Tencent representative explained to National Business Daily that the reorganization will improve the efficiency of TiMi Studio Group. Now its studios will be able to focus more on game development and less on bureaucracy.
Recall that Tencent’s plans to reorganize TiMi Studio Group and merge some of its internal studios were first revealed last fall. At the time, the media reported that up to 20% of staff or 1200 people could be laid off due to reshuffles in TiMi Studio Group, but Tencent refuted these claims.
