Rumor: The studio behind Godfall has shut down
The American studio Counterplay Games may have ceased to exist. Its closure was mentioned on LinkedIn by an employee of Jackalyptic Games, a company that was co-developing an unannounced game with Counterplay Games.

According to the developer, the studios had been working on a joint project for about six months. In 2025, the partnership was suddenly terminated, and Counterplay Games was "disbanded."
Later, the Jackalyptic Games employee edited their LinkedIn post, removing the comments about the closure of Counterplay Games. However, screenshots of the full post can still be found online.

Representatives of Counterplay Games have not officially commented on the rumors.
Counterplay Games was founded in 2013. Its portfolio includes the now-closed tactical card game Duelys and the looter-slasher Godfall. The latter was released in 2020 to a lukewarm reception from critics and players alike.
It is known that in March 2024, Counterplay Games underwent a round of layoffs, but the scale was not disclosed.
