"We published over 600 games in alternative stores," said Artur Beresnev from Mamboo about the results of 2024
We continue to summarize the results of 2024 with gaming (or gaming industry-related) teams and experts. Next up is an interview with Arturo Beresnev, CEO of the Alternative Stores Publishing division at Mamboo.
How was the year for the company? What achievements would you like to highlight?
One of the most successful divisions in the company is publishing in alternative stores. As of November 2024, we have:
- published over 600 games;
- achieved 15 million installations.
It's noteworthy that in 2024, we managed to sign contracts with top publishers — Voodoo, Azur, Amanotes, Gismart — for publishing their games in alternative stores.
How has the market changed for publishers over the year?
The market has recovered since 2022. It continues to grow.
More and more publishers are trying to enter alternative stores, but not everyone succeeds, as each store is a unique ecosystem that can vastly differ from Google Play and the App Store.
Has the practice of working with developers changed, or have the developers themselves changed?
There is a noticeable trend toward self-publishing, primarily on web platforms. Developers are relying less on PPP/Burn-rate and are striving to create higher-quality products with a focus on IAP monetization.
Overall, the dynamic is positive: only strong teams have remained in the market after the 2022 downturn. As for newcomers, the entry threshold has increased. For us, this results in more effective collaboration with each new developer.
What trends in game publishing are you expecting to strengthen or emerge in 2025?
The trend of hybridizing the economy of all genres will strengthen. Fewer developers want to pay commissions to stores. More teams will try to circumvent this necessity by integrating third-party payment systems.
Also, more teams will strive to enter the maximum number of platforms, diversifying their revenue sources to the fullest extent.
What are the company's plans for 2025?
In 2023, we only published hyper-casual and hybrid projects. Now, within the framework of working with alternative stores, we have launched a separate casual direction.
Accordingly, the plans include scaling all three gaming directions with a focus on casual, as well as expanding to new platforms.
Additionally, of course, we will continue to sign top developers. We aim to become the number one publisher on alternative platforms.
