Wonder Legends Studio, a transmedia company based in Poland, has secured $1 million in a pre-seed fundraising round with backing from the SMOK Ventures fund.

The studio is working on a game prototype as well as pre-developing an animated series through a European co-production agreement.

The development of the game has been partially funded by The Creative Industries Development Center, and the Polish Film Institute has supported the series. Additionally, the studio has obtained an Epic MegaGrant.

Utilizing Unreal Engine 5, both the game and the animated series integrate themes from Greek mythology and steampunk. They are aiming for release between late 2027 and early 2028.

Established in 2023 by Artur Malczyk and Wojciech Karubin, Wonder Legends Studio has been working on these projects since 2019 and consists of a team of 15 experienced professionals.

"Completing the pre-seed round with SMOK Ventures as our lead investor is a major achievement in today's challenging market," stated founders Malczyk and Karubin.

"This reflects the trust in our vision and dedication. We believe Wonder Legends can emerge as a significant intellectual property from Poland, bolstering the standing of the nation's creative sector."

SMOK Ventures' founding partner, Diana Koziarska, expressed: "SMOK Ventures values groundbreaking ideas as drivers of innovation, exemplified by WLS. Their unique narrative merging Greek mythology with steampunk, alongside a pioneering transmedia approach, sets new storytelling benchmarks.

"We are proud to support their vision and look forward to their influence on the global creative scene."
