The Sonic film series has surpassed $1 billion in worldwide box office earnings

Worldwide earnings for Paramount Pictures' Sonic movie series have now exceeded $1 billion in box office receipts.

According to Eurogamer, the third entry, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, achieved $336.3 million in sales globally after its release on December 20, with $211.5 million earned in its opening week.

The 2020 and 2022 Sonic films together brought in $725.2 million and have since added $181 million in digital sales and rentals.

The latest installment features Keanu Reeves portraying Shadow the Hedgehog, earning an 86% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Plans for a fourth film are underway.

Producers Neal H Mortiz and Toby Ascher expressed, "We are thrilled with the fantastic reaction to the Sonic the Hedgehog series from global audiences, and it's an honor to work with the talented team that created this franchise."
