The live-streams for The Game Awards experienced a 31% increase compared to the previous year

The Game Awards 2024 set a new benchmark by reaching around 154 million global streaming views, as stated by the organizers.

This marks a substantial rise of almost 31% from 2023 when the event drew 118 million viewers, holding the previous record.

The total viewer numbers represent data gathered from platforms like YouTube, Twitch, Steam, TikTok Live, X, Instagram Live, and Facebook. StreamCharts reported that peak concurrent viewers reached over four million across Western services like Twitch and YouTube, an increase of 10% from the prior year. The YouTube 4K broadcast saw a 35% surge, with peak live concurrent viewership hitting 1.3 million. Factoring in co-streams, YouTube's audience expanded by 28% to 2.17 million.

The statistics came after a notable tenth anniversary show for The Game Awards, which included the announcement of significant titles such as CD Projekt's The Witcher 4, Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, FromSoftware's Elden Ring: Nightreign, Hazelight's Split Fiction, and Sega's Sonic Racing Crossworlds. Additionally, several well-known series like Onimusha, Virtua Fighter, Okami, and Turok made their comeback.

The top award of Game of the Year went to Team Asobi's Astro Bot, which secured four awards in total. Additional winners of note were indie sensation Balatro, as well as Metaphor: ReFantanzi, Black Myth: Wukong, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2.
