According to the latest US Monthly Charts, EA Sports College Football has become the best-selling sports game in the United States' history
EA's college football title has set a new record, securing the position as the top-grossing sports video game ever in the United States by revenue.
According to Circana's November bulletin, EA Sports College Football 25 not only leads sales for 2024 but also ranks within the top 50 best sellers of all time by financial metrics. Its resurgence into the monthly Top Ten was fueled by pricing strategies, only outdone by Madden NFL 25 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Black Ops 6's release in October, contrasted with Modern Warfare 3's launch last year, contributed to a 7% decline in November spending to $5.8 billion. This year's iteration of Call of Duty ranks as the second largest seller in 2024.
The standout new entry was Mario & Luigi: Brothership at number 7, though this excludes digital transactions as Nintendo withholds this data. Other fresh arrivals in the Top 20 included Dragon Quest 3's HD-2D remake at 12 and My Sims: Cozy Bundle from EA at 19.
Video game content expenditures decreased 9% from last year, totaling $4.5 billion. Console content saw the steepest decline of 29% compared to 2023. Hardware sales remained steady at $927 million, with PlayStation 5's 15% sales growth balancing a 29% drop for Xbox and 3% for Switch.
The PS5 Pro comprised 19% of Sony's unit sales, marking a dollar sales leap surpassing PS4 Pro's November 2016 launch by over 50%, though unit figures dropped by 12%.
November 2024 saw a 4% increase in console sales year-over-year, with 2.4 million units sold. However, total annual sales are down, reaching 9.4 million compared to 11.8 million in the previous year.
