Zynga sold the marketing platform Chartboost
The Chartboost platform has changed ownership. Mobile game publisher Zynga has announced its sale to LoopMe, a technology company specializing in brand advertising.
The deal's amount and terms have not been disclosed. In their statement, LoopMe mentioned only that acquiring Chartboost will enhance their capabilities and accelerate further growth.
As a reminder, Zynga purchased Chartboost in 2021, shortly after Apple tightened privacy policies on iOS. At that time, it was reported that Zynga paid $250 million for the platform.
Rumors that Chartboost was up for sale surfaced a month and a half ago. At the end of October, Business Insider sources reported that Take-Two Interactive, Zynga’s parent company, was in negotiations to sell the platform. Allegedly, they initiated this due to a shift in priorities concerning the monetization of mobile games. It was claimed that Take-Two Interactive decided to focus more on revenue directly from players rather than advertising. Potential buyers for Chartboost identified by Business Insider sources included AppLovin and LoopMe. Notably, it was mentioned that AppLovin was interested in the deal but only if they could purchase specific Chartboost assets rather than the entire platform. Apparently, AppLovin's terms did not meet Take-Two Interactive’s expectations, and ultimately, the deal was made with LoopMe.
