The creators of Genshin Impact won a lawsuit for $1.05 million against cheat developers
The Chinese company miHoYo won a lawsuit in Canada against the developers of cheat software Akebi GC, Acrepi, and Genshin XYZ. These programs allowed players to bypass rules in Genshin Impact.

The victory in the court was announced by the law firm DLA Piper Canada, which represented miHoYo's interests. The court prohibited the cheat developers from distributing their software and ordered them to pay miHoYo 1.5 million Canadian dollars or 1.05 million US dollars as compensation.
The litigation between miHoYo and the cheat developers lasted a year. Recall that the company filed the lawsuit at the end of 2023, accusing the Canadians of copyright infringement, financial damage, and reputational harm.
This is not the first time miHoYo has sought penalties for cheat developers in its games. For example, in the summer of 2022, a group of hackers in China was sentenced to prison on similar charges. A year later, Chinese police arrested another group of cheat developers for Genshin Impact.
