Riot Games set to impose penalties for "off-platform conduct"
Riot Games has unveiled modifications to the terms of service for content creators, introducing potential penalties for behavior outside the game platform.
In a statement on its website, the company specified that these changes are relevant only when Riot's titles are featured in the background of produced content.
An example provided was that if an individual used offensive language or behaved inappropriately during a live stream, despite not doing so in-game, they could still face sanctions.
Riot specified that actions violating their terms while broadcasting or creating content could lead to restricted access to their Riot accounts and possible suspension of Partner program privileges.
Furthermore, the company made it clear it could limit access to a user's complete Riot account if terms of service violations occurred.
The updated rules are scheduled to commence on January 3, 2025.
