Humanoid Origin is shutting its doors

Humanoid Origin has ceased operations and halted production on its unnamed science fiction project.

According to a post on LinkedIn, the company, based in Canada, pointed to an "unexpected shortfall in funding" as the cause for the shutdown.

The message elaborated on the situation: "We've faced unforeseen financial challenges, preventing us from continuing our work. While disappointed not to see our sci-fi universe realized, our priority is the well-being of our team, ensuring they find new job opportunities."

The studio, established by ex-BioWare general manager Casey Hudson in 2021, had locations in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. Hudson spent 16 years at BioWare, departing in 2014, then rejoining in 2017 before ultimately leaving again in 2022 along with Dragon Age’s executive producer, Mark Darrah.
