In 2023, the creators of Baldur's Gate 3 earned 427 million euros—19 times more than the previous year

Although Larian Studios' headquarters is based in Belgium, the studio has branches in other countries, one of which is in Ireland. Recently, Larian Group Holdings in Dublin published a financial report detailing the developers' revenues for the past year.

The financial report caught the attention of the Irish Independent newspaper. According to journalists, 2023 was a far more lucrative year for Larian Studios compared to the previous year. Developers earned a revenue of 427 million euros, while in 2022, they reported only 22.7 million euros in revenue.

Larian Studios' pre-tax profit in 2023 amounted to 249 million euros. Notably, in 2022, the studio operated at a loss with deficits totaling 214 thousand euros.

The growth in Larian Studios' income was driven by Baldur’s Gate 3, which was released on August 3, 2023. It should be noted that a portion of the game's revenue goes to Hasbro, which owns the rights to Dungeons & Dragons. Hasbro previously reported that Baldur’s Gate 3 generated about 90 million dollars for them in 2023, and they plan to earn 35 million dollars in 2024.

Irish Independent highlighted that the number of copies sold of Baldur’s Gate 3 exceeded 15 million. It is unclear whether this information came from the financial report or what its current status is, as the article does not specify. Larian Studios has not publicly disclosed the sales figures, but in February 2024, the studio's publishing director, Michael Douse, mentioned that more than 10 million people played Baldur’s Gate 3.
