Samsung introduces a complimentary cloud gaming platform for Galaxy smartphones

Samsung has introduced a complimentary mobile gaming service available to users of Galaxy devices in the North American region.

The tech giant has been testing this streaming platform under a beta version through an application called Game Launcher, which is now rebranded as Samsung Gaming Hub.

The initial offering consists of 23 games, featuring popular free-to-play titles such as Monopoly Go, Candy Crush Saga, Homescapes, and Honor of Kings.

All games are accessible without charge. Samsung's vice president, Jong Woo, explained to GamesIndustry.biz: "Our cloud streaming technology allows users to access games without any subscription fees or content hidden behind paywalls, setting us apart from other cloud services."

Games can be launched via links provided in Galaxy Store entries, Samsung Gaming Hub, or advertising. The Galaxy Store, pre-loaded on all Samsung mobile and tablet devices, functions as the operating client.

Samsung reported that during the beta phase, half of the users who clicked on an ad or listing for a mobile cloud game ended up playing the advertised game.

Woo expressed confidence that the seamless nature of cloud gaming, which eliminates the need for downloads, will enable Samsung to "transform the scaling process for mobile game publishers significantly."

The company is already involved in the cloud gaming market through its Smart TVs, having established a significant collaboration with Xbox, as well as partnering with services like Boosteroid.

Previously, Samsung had attempted a game streaming service known as PlayGalaxy Link, targeted at PCs and select Galaxy devices, which was discontinued before its official launch.
