Half-Life 2 achieves a new milestone with more than 60,000 simultaneous players

During the weekend commemorating its 20th anniversary, "Half-Life 2" saw a surge in active players on Steam, surpassing 60,000.

The title achieved a peak of 64,085 simultaneous players, marking its highest number since Steam DB began monitoring player statistics in 2008. For comparison, in August 2021, the game's peak was 16,101 concurrent users.

This growth in the player base followed the unexpected rollout of an update by Valve, which integrated the main game with its episodic expansions. The update also included Steam Workshop support and new in-game commentary features.

Additionally, Valve released a two-hour documentary to commemorate the game's influence and history, while also offering "Half-Life 2" free on Steam for a brief period.
