WASD Expo called off as organizer enters liquidation
WASD, the UK indie games expo, has entered liquidation, leading to its cancellation.
According to BBC News, co-founder David Lilley attributed this decision to rising costs and dwindling demand for exhibition space, making event organization financially unsustainable.
This expo premiered in 2022, succeeding the standalone EGX Rezzed event, and took place as part of the London Games Festival each April.
Signs of WASD's impending closure emerged when its website became inaccessible after the latest event.
In another development earlier this year, the Insomnia Gaming Festival ceased operations due to layoffs at its organizing company, Player1 Events, as noted by GamesIndustry.biz.
Currently, EGX stands as the UK's remaining large-scale consumer gaming event. This year's edition was held together with MCM Comic-Con rather than as an individual gathering.
