Phil Spencer: Microsoft plans to continue acquiring gaming companies

Microsoft's gaming division isn't against making new acquisitions, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed in an interview with Bloomberg. However, significant deals are not expected in the near future, as the corporation is currently finalizing the integration of Activision Blizzard.

Spencer believes that deals with "geographical diversity," such as in Asia, could be beneficial for Microsoft. The company is also interested in acquiring mobile game developers. Spencer did not disclose whether there are any specific targets already in mind.

"We definitely want to be in the market. If we find teams, technologies, and other opportunities that will strengthen Microsoft's gaming business, we will certainly be on the lookout," Spencer stated.

The top executive added that Microsoft aims to diversify its gaming teams and focus more on China. As a successful example of this approach, he cited the mobile version of Age of Empires, developed in partnership with TiMi Studios, a subsidiary of Tencent. The game was released in mid-October and earned 14 million dollars in less than a month.
