Roblox has revealed plans to enhance safety features for users younger than 13.

According to the Roblox Creator Hub, two major changes will be rolled out in the next few months, involving stricter controls on unrated content and restricted social interactions and user-generated creations.

The company emphasized the need for parents and young users to have clear information regarding their gameplay choices. Updated guidelines aim to mitigate risks associated with user interactions involving younger individuals.

Children under 13 will be barred from accessing unrated experiences unless creators complete a vetting process by December 3, 2024. Post this date, experiences not rated for younger audiences will be inaccessible to this age group.

From November 18, social events and free-form content such as drawing and writing, will be restricted to users over 13.

In a move last month, Roblox adjusted its parental control mechanisms, overhauling content maturity settings and providing new account options to enable parental monitoring.

Roblox has also faced criticism over its safety measures. Hindenburg Research released a report in October claiming the company was neglecting minors' security. Roblox has disputed these allegations, asserting its commitment to addressing inappropriate conduct and content seriously.
