On Friday, November 8, 2024, employees at Don't Nod are scheduled to strike in response to a redundancy initiative revealed in the prior month.

The demonstration will take place near the company's main office in Paris, as stated by union STJV, beginning at 2 PM.

Ongoing discussions continue after a notice that as many as 69 employees might face redundancies due to the company's reorganization. Workers have outlined several demands, such as:

  • Cancelling the proposed layoffs
  • Ensuring employee involvement in company decisions
  • The presence of CEO Oskar Guilbert in negotiations

In an open letter, workers addressed the problems at the company, criticizing leadership for justifying the layoffs based on the economic climate without acknowledging internal mistakes.

"As employees, we recognize that these issues stem from continuous negligence and poor leadership choices," stated the letter translated by GamesIndustry.biz. "We have communicated these issues to management for years, yet our warnings have gone unheard. We are now bearing the consequences of these ill-conceived decisions with the layoff plan."

The letter also pointed to a strategy driven by "delusions of grandeur," resulting in over-investment and short-sighted planning over recent years. It mentioned that many staff members have departed, leading to understaffed teams and challenging working conditions.

"We aim to preserve the company without resorting to unwarranted layoffs or worsening work conditions," concluded the letter.

On October 16, Don't Nod publicized its redundancy strategy, prompting STJV to advocate for collective action. The union later called for a strike, characterizing the overhaul plan as "absurd, violent, and ineffective in salvaging the company."
