Raffael Boccamazzo, the clinical director, is set to depart from Take This

Raffael 'Dr. B' Boccamazzo, the clinical director of the mental health charity Take This, is set to depart from the organization by the end of the year.

Boccamazzo announced his forthcoming departure on LinkedIn. Take This further elaborated on this development in a detailed blog post, marking the end of his decade-long involvement with the organization, dedicated to improving mental health within the gaming sector.

"By the close of 2024, I will step down from my role at Take This," Boccamazzo stated. "Reflecting on my journey, it's amazing to think about this transition. Since joining the organization as a volunteer and then a staff member, starting with the first AFK Room in Seattle in 2014, there are numerous achievements I cherish. Nonetheless, managing a non-profit is incredibly challenging.

"With the arrival of my child earlier this year, my priorities have shifted toward my family. Balancing the demanding hours of a directorial role at a small nonprofit with family needs is unsustainable. My current focus requires stepping back to serve both faithfully. I hope to continue supporting the organization in some capacity when possible, but for now, personal commitments take precedence."

The organization has not yet announced plans regarding a successor for Boccamazzo as clinical director.

This development aligns with recent organizational changes, including the resignation of Eve Crevoshay from her position as executive director at Take This, now filled by Kelli Dunlap, the former community director.

Earlier this year, the organization faced potential closure due to financial constraints. However, recent announcements reveal it has secured nearly $100,000 to continue its mission.
