Square Enix appears to be shifting away from exclusive platform releases

Square Enix plans to release its games on multiple platforms simultaneously more frequently.

In an interview with 4Gamer, translated by Eurogamer, Naoki 'Yoshi-P' Yoshida, the producer and director of Final Fantasy 14, stated that the company intends to reduce its focus on platform-exclusive releases.

He noted that the newly anticipated game, Fantasian Neo Dimension, will launch on December 5, 2024, for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC at the same time.

"We aim to release Square Enix games on all platforms simultaneously more frequently. Since this is among the initial attempts, we hope Xbox users give it a try as well," Yoshida mentioned.

A historically significant number of Square Enix titles have been exclusive to PlayStation, resulting in some sales and identity challenges for the company, as observed by contributor editor Rob Fahey.
