Middlesbrough's Radical Forge has secured £2.6 million through the NPIF II – Mercia Equity Finance, which is a section of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II.

This funding will allow the development studio to increase its current workforce of 70, embark on new ventures, and finalize the release of Southfield by early 2025.

Chris McCourt from Mercia Ventures stated, "Radical Forge consists of an exceptionally skilled team with a dynamic atmosphere that has enabled them to draw and maintain talented developers. We foresee considerable opportunities for the company in the current landscape.

"With major industry leaders reducing their workforce, Radical Forge has the potential to attract top-tier talent, enhance their skill set, and take on bigger and more intricate projects. The NPIF II investment will support their growth objectives and further contribute to Middlesbrough’s burgeoning gaming sector."

Earlier this year, Radical Forge underwent slight restructuring, resulting in the dismissal of six staff members.
