Supercell has completed the acquisition of Space Ape
Supercell has expanded its stake in Space Ape by acquiring the London-based gaming studio. Previously, the Finnish giant held a 62% interest in the company, with the complete acquisition expected to finalize by spring 2025, when a new London office will become operational as well.
This marks Supercell's inaugural presence in the United Kingdom. CEO Ilkka Paananen expressed enthusiasm about integrating into London's vibrant gaming environment, stating, "We believe the best teams create the best games, so we are really excited to find our place within London's incredibly talented games ecosystem by joining forces with Space Ape."
He further remarked that this development would enhance their teams with talented new members, advancing their goal of crafting memorable games played and cherished by people worldwide for years.
Space Ape's CEO, John Earner, also commented on the acquisition, highlighting the long-standing relationship with Supercell. He stated, "We've loved working closely with Supercell for many years, and this move is the next stage in that partnership. I am so proud of Space Ape's contribution to the gaming industry over the last twelve years. I am looking forward to this next step in our evolution as part of the Supercell team."
