Red Barrels has collaborated with Lionsgate Studios to develop a film adaptation of the horror series Outlast
The video game series Outlast is being adapted into a film.
Lionsgate Studios has partnered with Red Barrels, the developer of Outlast, to bring the series to the big screen. Roy Lee, known for his work on It and Strange Darling, will be producing the movie.
JT Petty, who played a significant role in crafting the stories for the games, will write the screenplay.
The Outlast franchise began in 2012 as a survival horror game. Red Barrels has since expanded the series with a prequel, a sequel, and most recently introduced a multiplayer game, The Outlast Trials, which fully launched earlier this year.
David Chateauneuf, co-founder and creative director at Red Barrels, expressed excitement about collaborating with renowned figures in the horror film industry. "Being able to develop an Outlast movie with such acclaimed horror professionals is a dream, or perhaps a nightmare, come true," he remarked.
