MAU reached 37 million, Star Wars Outlaws and XDefiant did not meet expectations — key points about games from Ubisoft's report
In its semi-annual report, Ubisoft also shared metrics of its key games and accompanying statistics. We have gathered the main highlights.
Star Wars Outlaws
- Total time spent in the company's games increased by 9% year-over-year, and the number of game sessions rose by 6%. Rainbow Six Siege was the main driver, showing double-digit growth in these metrics.
- MAUs increased by 3% to 37 million, with the company attracting 138 million users on PC and consoles over the past 12 months.
- The number of active players in Rainbow Six Siege and the Assassin’s Creed franchise exceeded 30 million over the last 12 months.
- Sales of Star Wars Outlaws did not meet expectations. Currently, teams are working on improving the game and preparing it for release on Steam. The company anticipates a sales boost during the holiday season.
- The metrics of the free-to-play shooter XDefiant also fell below expectations. Despite a strong start, the game's metrics began to decline fairly quickly.
- Nevertheless, Ubisoft plans to continue developing XDefiant, as well as expanding its portfolio of live-service games — including the development of Rainbow Six Mobile.
- Ubisoft emphasized that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on time. The recent postponement of the game to February 14, 2025, is primarily due to additional polishing following the criticism of Star Wars Outlaws.
