Quality assurance employees at Activision Blizzard stage a walkout in protest against the company's directive to return to the office
Employees from the QA division at Activision Blizzard in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, have staged a walkout over the company's decision to enforce a return-to-office policy.
According to Eurogamer, the workers' group known as ABetterABK, supported by the Communications Workers of America, blamed the company for "denying accommodations to compel resignations."
The group accused the company of demanding that all employees, including those with severe health issues and medical advice to work remotely, return to on-site work.
Through a post on social media, ABetterABK stated that the decision about the return-to-office policy was made without consulting them.
"Since then, we've found out the company is unwilling to offer remote work accommodations, even when it's the sole available solution for some employees due to this burdensome policy."
In response, Activision Blizzard said: "We acknowledge our staff's right to share their viewpoints. We recognize that returning to the workplace can be challenging for some. We engage in discussions with employees who seek accommodations. This topic is part of ongoing negotiations, and we will continue to address our mutual concerns in those discussions."
Back in January, Activision Blizzard concluded the hybrid work model for QA teams located in Minneapolis, Austin, and El Segundo.
This month, over 700 Ubisoft France employees protested due to disagreements over the company's return-to-office policy and salary issues.
