A film adaptation of The Oregon Trail is in the works

Apple is set to transform The Oregon Trail into a film blending action and comedy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Speck and Josh Gordon will direct and produce the movie. They are known for the sci-fi comedy Distant and the Hulu animated series Marvel's Hit-Monkey.
The screenplay will be crafted by The Lucas Brothers, noted for their work on Judas and the Black Messiah, along with Max Reisman.
Original music will be composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, working under their Ampersand banner. They have previously been acclaimed for their contributions to La La Land and Only Murders in the Building.
Producers include Caroline Fraser from HarperCollins Productions and film producer Kevin K. Vafi.
The Oregon Trail was first created by the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium in 1971. It has undergone various adaptations, with the latest release by Gameloft in April 2021.
