The compensation for Microsoft CEO has increased by 63%, reaching $79 million
Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, saw his compensation swell by 63% this year, totaling $79.1 million.
According to a regulatory document, $71.2 million of this amount came from stock awards, marking a notable 81% increase. Nadella's base salary accounted for $2.5 million, alongside $5.2 million allocated for a "non-equity incentive plan," with another $169,791 in additional compensation.
In his annual message to shareholders, Nadella referred to 2024 as a "pivotal year" for Microsoft. He emphasized the October 2023 acquisition of Activision Blizzard and advancements in cloud gaming.
Despite these strides, the company experienced substantial layoffs, with over 2,500 positions eliminated.
Earlier in the year, 1,900 staff members from the gaming division faced redundancies. More layoffs occurred last month as Microsoft eliminated 650 more employees to adjust its structure after acquisitions.
In June, four Bethesda studios ceased operations, including Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, Roundhouse, and Alpha Dog. Subsequently, Krafton obtained Tango Gameworks under a "strategic agreement."
