Fawzi Mesmar has been appointed as the creative director for Beyond Good & Evil 2
Fawzi Mesmar has taken on the role of creative director for Ubisoft Montpellier's Beyond Good & Evil 2, as confirmed by his announcement on Linkedin.
Mesmar, a seasoned game designer active since 2003, has been with Ubisoft for three years. His previous position was vice president of global creative, overseeing projects such as Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Star Wars Outlaws, and the 20th Anniversary Edition of Beyond Good & Evil.
His past roles include head of design at DICE, studio design director at King, and principal designer at Gameloft, among others.
He remarked on his new position: "Having worked with this talented team for years on this ambitious project, I've seen their capabilities up close. I am honored to follow those creative leaders who have guided the team before me and am eager to continue developing a truly distinctive game for players."
This appointment follows the passing of former creative director Emile Morel last year.
Since its original announcement in 2008, Beyond Good & Evil 2 has experienced prolonged development challenges.
Additionally, Guillaume Carmona, Ubisoft Montpellier's former managing director, departed the company last year amid allegations related to labor issues.
