Roblox plans to introduce modifications aimed at safeguarding the online experience of users under the age of 13

The online gaming platform Roblox is set to revise its parental control features in the coming month.
According to Bloomberg, these updates were communicated to parents via email, detailing changes in content maturity standards and default settings.
For users below 13, parental consent will be necessary to access certain chat functionalities. Meanwhile, those under 9 will require permission for experiences that feature "moderate violence or moderate crude humor."
Roblox will introduce a new account type that allows parents to review and control the content their children engage with on the platform.
This feature enables parents to manage and adjust controls directly from their devices and gain insights into their children's activity.
"The announced updates underscore Roblox's dedication to ensuring a safe online space for users, with a particular emphasis on safeguarding young users," commented Juliet Chaitin-Lefcourt, Roblox's head of product communications, to The Verge.
Roblox has previously been under scrutiny regarding its efforts to protect minors on its platform. Earlier in the month, a report by Hindenburg Research criticized the platform for exposing minors to inappropriate content. Roblox denied these accusations and reaffirmed its commitment by stating that it treats content safety with utmost seriousness and has consistently prioritized investment in Trust & Safety measures.
