Original report, October 23, 2024: Ubisoft has dissolved the team responsible for the development of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

According to BBC News, Ubisoft stated that "most of the team members who worked on the game have transitioned to other projects where their skills are needed."

The company clarified that no job cuts have taken place as a result of this action.

Senior producer Abdelhak Elguess mentioned that fans can anticipate "more Prince of Persia experiences down the line," including a remake of the 2003 title, The Sands of Time.

The French outlet Origami, as cited by IGN, suggested the decision stemmed from The Lost Crown not meeting its sales targets.

Just last month, Ubisoft adjusted its financial projections for the year following disappointing initial sales of Star Wars Outlaws, leading to the postponement of Assassin's Creed Shadows to February 2025.

Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft co-founder and CEO, remarked, "Our second quarter results did not align with our expectations, prompting us to take decisive actions, emphasizing a player-driven, gameplay-centric strategy, and ensuring the lasting value of our franchises."

Update, October 24, 2024: Ubisoft provided clarification regarding reports of the team's dissolution in a statement to Eurogamer.

Abdelhak Elguess, senior producer of The Lost Crown, reiterated that most team members had been reassigned to new projects, adding, "We recognize the affection players have for this franchise, and Ubisoft looks forward to bringing additional Prince of Persia content in the future."
