PopReach has shut down its Vancouver studio after selling its mobile games division

PopReach Games has closed its operations in Vancouver and appears to have left the video game sector entirely.

This development was confirmed by Marina Sapunova, the company's vice president of game studios, through a LinkedIn post as noted by PocketGamer.biz. However, the exact number of employees impacted remains unknown.

Earlier this year, in April, PopReach sold its Indian operations and a portfolio of free-to-play games, including Smurf's Magic Match, Gardens of Time, and Kitchen Scramble, to Phoenix Games for $9.8 million in cash, as documented in a report.

Ionik, the parent company of PopReach, confirmed the sale of its gaming assets in its latest financial reports. The PopReach website still lists studios in Bangalore, India, and Vancouver, Canada, implying that the entire business has possibly ceased operations.

Established in 2015, PopReach Games once operated in Toronto and London in addition to the other locations. Beyond publishing its own titles, it managed games from other companies like Kabam's Kingdoms of Camelot, taking responsibility for their ongoing operations and updates.
