Twitch has eliminated the badge that identified game developers in chat streams

Twitch has discontinued the game developer identification badge in chat streams.

According to a recent blog post, this badge has been removed from view, and its toggle on the developer console is now inactive.

Jon Bulava, who leads Twitch's developer relations, stated that the surge in both valid and invalid requests because of the chat badge resulted in significant delays and made the queue challenging to handle.

The badge's removal is linked to Twitch's developer organizations feature, which enables game studios to develop tools for assessing game performance on the service.

This move is aimed at "restoring" Twitch's developer organization process.

Developers who submitted a game ownership claim before November 1, 2024, will have their cases reviewed by December 1, 2024.

Requests without such claims will be denied, but submitters are encouraged to try again.

Regarding the badge's potential return, Bulava mentioned that the feature presents some challenges that need addressing first.

Currently, there are no plans to reinstate the badge, but future reassessments might occur to enhance communications between developers and the gaming community.
