GamesIndustry.biz has outlined its plans for participation at MCM x EGX 2024
GamesIndustry.biz will be playing a key role in the business offerings at the MCM x EGX 2024 event.
This gathering is scheduled to occur at the Platinum Suite, ExCel London, on Friday, October 25. Interested parties can secure their passes here.
The business agenda will open with a session led by GI's Chris Dring titled, 'A year to forget? Five things to know about the games industry in 2024 (and some predictions)', which will offer a data-driven examination of the industry, touching on layoffs, studio shutdowns, and the outlook for 2025.
Additionally, editor-in-chief James Batchelor will oversee a discussion panel titled 'Join the golden age of gaming adaptations: How games, TV, and Hollywood creators can build new worlds together'.
The panel will include insights from Big Fan's Amanda Kruse, Ubisoft's Etienne Bouvier, and The Gillard Consultancy's John Gillard, who will explore collaborative opportunities between games and entertainment intellectual properties.
Further sessions on the agenda will cover 'Getting funded for game development: The backing is out there'. Host Jon Hicks, alongside industry experts such as Pitchify's Gina Jackson, Venture Partners' Gus Carley, and The Games Angels' Nick Button-Brown, will discuss current funding avenues available to developers.
'Are you safe from lawyers? What recent cases mean for developers' will feature Sheridans senior associate Anna Poulter-Jones, exploring legal considerations in game development, including laws on characters, art, and genres.
The final session will involve a panel led by Hicks, with contributions from Playtonic's Sophie Shanks and Kepler Interactive's Callum Owen-Vallentin, addressing strategies for successful game releases beyond the wishlist phase.
