The television series adaptation of "God of War" by Amazon is reportedly being reworked from the ground up after its showrunner exited the project.

As per Deadline, Rafe Judkins, along with executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, have left the series, despite several scripts already being penned for the debut season.

A source informed Deadline that Amazon and Sony are seeking "a different creative direction," even though the scripts created thus far were well-received by both companies.

Sony is said to be in the process of hiring a new team of writers. Meanwhile, Judkins, who holds a comprehensive deal with Sony, is expected to continue contributing to other endeavors.

The adaptation by Amazon of "God of War" was initially revealed in December 2022, along with announcements for adaptations of the Horizon franchise and Gran Turismo.

Rooted in Santa Monica Studio's 2018 game, the series will be a collaborative effort involving Sony Pictures TV, MGM Amazon Studios, and PlayStation Productions.
