Ubisoft Milan aligns with Ubisoft France in a strike concerning the return-to-office policy
In a show of support for their colleagues in France, Ubisoft Milan has announced a one-day walkout.
According to Deadline, the Fiom Cgil union at the Milan office is voicing concerns about the company's hybrid work policy.
Fiom Cgil's Andrea Rosafalco commented on the policy, saying, "It is unthinkable that a young person who lives in another region or in any case far from our territory could spend three days a week in Milan, turning their existence upside down. It is not economically sustainable and unfair on a human level."
As noted by Insider Gaming, a number of staff members at Ubisoft Milan plan to exit, some setting their sights on Day 4 Night, a new studio founded by former creative director Davide Soliani.
GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to Ubisoft for additional remarks.
Recently, over 700 employees in France at Ubisoft engaged in a three-day strike, opposing a requirement for in-office presence at least three times a week.
The STJV (Syndicat des Travailleurs et Travailleuses du Jeu Vidéo) shared concerns that this change could result in job losses, project disruptions, and escalating psychological stress for those staying on, according to a spokesperson.
