In just four days, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom surpasses all other September game releases on the Japan Monthly Charts

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom emerged as Japan's top-selling physical game for September, moving over 200,000 units within just four days of release. According to Famitsu's sales data covering the period from August 26 to September 29, the sales of this game were more than twice that of any competitor in the same timeframe.

Following close was Bandai Namco's Gundam Breaker 4 for the Switch, which sold nearly 68,000 copies, ranking it second for the month. Including sales from its PS5 and PS4 versions, the total rose to nearly 130,000 copies after a full month since its August 29 release.

Gundam Breaker 4's performance bolstered Bandai Namco's revenue, making it the second-largest publisher financially, after Nintendo. This release has already outstripped the lifetime sales of 2018's New Gundam Breaker, which sold 106,000 units, though it still trails behind 2016's Gundam Breaker 3, which sold 190,000 in its launch month.

Among the 30 top games, 18 were new titles. Noteworthy entrants included Cygames' Umamusume: Pretty Derby - Party Dash for Switch, selling over 50,000 copies, and Square Enix's Visions of Mana for PS5 and PS4, which combined for 54,000 units sold. Sony's Astro Bot on PlayStation also performed well with 35,000 sales.

Nintendo's new releases in the Top 30 were limited, with Emio: The Smiling Man from the Famicom Detective Club series selling 31,000 units. Nonetheless, Nintendo maintained nine chart positions thanks to enduring popularity of titles like Animal Crossing, Nintendo Switch Sports, and Mario Kart 8, the latter having sold six million copies in Japan.

Only three Western games made the list, including EA Sports FC 25 for Switch and PS5 at positions 27 and 28, with a combined 16,500 sales, and Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws at 29 with 12,500 sales.

The Switch OLED dominated console sales at 193,647 units, contributing to half of the hardware sales for the month. In contrast, PS5 sales fell to 60,427 units, a decrease from the previous month's 86,000.
