A group of former Edge magazine veterans has introduced a new games publication called On

A new video games magazine, On, has been launched by former Edge magazine personnel, featuring high-quality, long-form journalism.

The endeavor is spearheaded by Andrew P. Hind, who contributed two decades as Edge's art editor, while Nathan Brown, a former editor of the notable UK publication, leads as editor-in-chief.

The inaugural edition is now available in the UK through Hybrid Publications, founded by Hind, with plans for future global distribution.

Each issue comprises comprehensive articles by notable authors, including previous Edge editors Jen Simpkins and Margaret Robinson, Keith Stuart and Keza MacDonald from The Guardian, ex-Eurogamer journalist Christian Donlan, and Wired's Yussef Cole.

The establishment of On comes amidst recent closures of significant magazines, notably the end of Game Informer after 33 years, and the shutdown of the PlayStation-centric Play magazine.

The ongoing difficulties facing video games journalism were recently analyzed in a discussion on The GamesIndustry.biz Microcast.
