Kokku has laid off seven of its employees
The Portugal office of co-development firm Kokku has let go of seven employees.
According to Pocket Gamer, this decision came after an "operational review" at the branch. However, this development has no impact on their Brazil operations.
A company representative explained, "Kokku recently assessed our Portugal office to make sure it aligns with our strategic objectives and supports structured growth. This evaluation led to resource optimization measures and the unfortunate exit of seven team members to better suit our global strategy. After thorough deliberation, these moves were made to fit the studio's needs. We held a company-wide meeting to openly address any concerns and maintain transparency."
The representative assured, "The Portugal studio continues its usual operations, with no changes to our Brazilian facilities."
Kokku is recognized for collaborating on titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Sniper Ghost Warrior.
Earlier this year, OV Entertainment Group acquired Kokku. At that time, we spoke to CEO Thiago de Freitas about the vision to integrate Latin American game development firms. Our discussions also included insights from Brazilian developers on the impact of Brazil's new legal framework for games.
