Former developers of Disco Elysium have opened two new studios
It has been reported that two gaming studios, founded by former ZA/UM developers, have been launched. Both studios plan to create RPGs.
XXX Nightshift
Dark Math Games
- The studio consists of 20 people. At least half of them were involved in creating Disco Elysium.
- Dark Math Games is based in London.
- The debut game for Dark Math Games will be XXX Nightshift — a detective RPG set in a science fiction universe. The events unfold in 2086 in Antarctica at a ski resort that "should not exist," with the main character being a patrol officer. The creators promise to deliver a deep story with multiple layers of gameplay and companion mechanics.
- XXX Nightshift will be available at least on PC. It already has a Steam page. The release date is currently unknown.
Longdue Games
- The studio's team includes 12 former ZA/UM employees, along with veterans from Bungie, Rockstar Games, and Brave At Night.
- Like Dark Math Games, Longdue Games is headquartered in London.
- The studio is currently working on a story-driven "psychogeographical RPG," where player decisions will impact both the characters and the game world. The developers describe their project as a "spiritual successor" to Disco Elysium. However, they emphasize that it will be an independent project that expands the boundaries of the genre, rather than copying Disco Elysium.
- Longdue Games has secured initial investments, but the amount and source have not been disclosed.
