The Sega series "Shinobi" is being developed into a movie adaptation
A film adaptation of Sega's iconic Shinobi series is currently in development.
The movie will be brought to life in collaboration with Universal Pictures, with Sam Hargrave set to direct and Ken Kobayashi handling the screenplay.
According to GamesBeat, Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will oversee production via Marc Platt Productions.
Story Kitchen, known for adapting games into movies such as the Sonic films, is contributing with producers like Dmitri M. Johnson, co-producer Timothy I. Stevenson, and executive producer Mike Goldberg on board.
Toru Nakahara, who leads Sega's TV and film projects, is also producing for Sega.
The Shinobi series began as a popular arcade game in 1987 and, although its latest installment was in 2011 on the 3DS, it has seen several successors and adaptations.
In other developments, Devolver Digital has announced the creation of a new publishing label focused on indie games adapted from films, TV shows, comics, and other entertainment properties.
