In a revelation on LinkedIn noticed by TechRaptor, the company acknowledged it had been developing a game that never saw the light of day. Although specifics were not shared, the firm has decided to cease work on this venture.

"The decision to halt one of our unannounced games forces us to reorganize internally and focus solely on a single game," the company stated. "Certain positions within the studio will be directly impacted by this change."

"It's a challenging period, hence our priority is to offer support and guidance to those employees affected," the statement continued.

Established in 2009, Tequila Works gained fame for its widely praised indie game, Rime. It also served as the publisher for The Sexy Brutale, a creation by the UK-based indie developer Cavalier Games Studios.

Their recent work includes Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story, which is a spin-off from the popular League of Legends franchise. This game was distributed by Riot Forge, the publishing branch of Riot Games, which was closed in January following 530 dismissals at Riot Games.

Correction: The article initially misrepresented Tequila Works as the creators of The Sexy Brutale when it was, in fact, the publisher. This has been clarified.
