The CEO of Epic Games asserts that the company is currently "financially sound"
During a session at Unreal Fest 2024 yesterday, Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, declared that the company has achieved financial stability.
Reflecting on 2023, Sweeney mentioned the necessity of financial restructuring, which led to the termination of approximately 830 positions last September.
He stated, "Over the past year, we focused on rebuilding and executing effectively across all areas. I'm pleased to inform you that the company is now financially sound, with Fortnite and the Epic Games Store setting new benchmarks for engagement and success."
Fortnite reached a holiday season milestone with 110 million monthly active users.
Steve Allison, General Manager of the Epic Games Store, noted that the platform saw 70 million monthly active users last month.
This week, Epic initiated another legal action against Google and Samsung, arguing that Samsung's Auto Blocker feature effectively makes the Google Play Store the sole option for app installations on Samsung devices, preventing competition from other app stores.
Last December, Epic emerged victorious in an antitrust lawsuit against Google. The company argued that the ongoing Google-Samsung alliance contradicted the jury's decision in that case.
