Future Trash has successfully secured $5 million in seed funding.

According to GamesBeat, the company plans to use this investment to advance its primary intellectual property, FOAD, on UEFN.

FOAD was initiated in 2022 as a highly ambitious indie project developed in Unreal Engine 5. In March 2023, development transitioned to UEFN. Currently, it garners around 20 million unique players and has accumulated 1 billion minutes of gameplay in titles such as Bomb Tycoon, Respawn Zone Wars, and Boom: Boss Battle.

The funding, spearheaded by TIRTA and General Catalyst, will facilitate the creation of 15 additional games over the coming year. Part of the funding will also enhance their social media strategy.

"When developing a standalone game, creators have complete freedom; however, in user-generated content platforms, there are constraints which we believe spark innovation," stated Kevin Marciano, CEO of Future Trash.

Marciano continued, "UGC platforms provide resources that usually make game creation lengthy and costly, enabling developers to prioritize content. A significant challenge in developing original IP in Fortnite involves educating players that this represents a unique world within the game."

"Even though most of the current players focus on traditional Fortnite gameplay, we are thrilled to be trailblazers in the platform's transformation, offering varied and enriching experiences," Marciano added.
