Pokémon Unite will cease operations in Belgium and the Netherlands next year
On November 30, 2025, Pokémon Unite will no longer be accessible in Belgium and the Netherlands.
The Pokémon Company, together with TiMi, the game's developer, declared that the game will be removed from download platforms, including mobile and Switch, after this date.
Purchasing subscriptions and in-game items will cease on October 31, 2024.
Although the reason for this decision was not specified, it likely stems from local restrictions concerning loot boxes.
Pokémon Unite utilizes a feature known as the Prize Machine, which involves players spending in-game currency—bought with real money—to obtain cosmetic rewards.
Belgium's gambling regulations prohibit the sale of loot boxes. Although not regulated under gambling laws in the Netherlands, the Dutch government proposed a ban on loot boxes in July 2023.
