EA plans to discontinue The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Electronic Arts (EA) is concluding its journey with The Simpsons: Tapped Out, ceasing its availability and support.
The company announced on Facebook that users will no longer be able to make in-app purchases and that the game will be removed from app stores on October 31, 2024.
Players who already have the game installed will be able to continue enjoying it until January 24, 2024.
EA expressed that ending this twelve-year journey is sentimental. They extended their gratitude to The Simpsons and The Walt Disney Company, remarking on the joy of watching players create their interpretations of Springfield.
The statement concluded with thanks to the fans who made the game's success achievable over the years.
Initially released on iOS in 2012, and subsequently on Android in 2013, The Simpsons: Tapped Out quickly became a significant revenue generator.
By 2014, the game had accumulated over $130 million in digital net income, as noted by IGN.
