Ubisoft is requiring employees to work from the office a minimum of three days each week
Ubisoft is implementing a policy requiring its employees to work in the office at least three days per week, according to information provided to GamesIndustry.biz by insiders. This adjustment comes after nearly four years of a hybrid work environment, where one third of the company’s premises operated on a three-day in-office schedule. The new directive is aimed at standardizing this practice across all offices globally.
The creators of the Assassin's Creed series have conveyed to their personnel that this mandate is designed to enhance collaboration and innovation while still accommodating personal situations. Across the gaming sector, there has been a reevaluation of hybrid and remote working arrangements this year. In a related development, Techland announced in July that it would shift roles to either hybrid or in-office settings. Similarly, in December, Activision Blizzard discontinued hybrid work for its QA teams.
A survey of UK participants in the 2024 Best Places To Work Awards revealed that only 18% operate completely remotely, 4% are fully in-office, and 78% have adopted a hybrid strategy, typically requiring office presence two to three days each week.
Adjustments to in-office working norms pose unique challenges, as many employees have come to rely on the flexibility that remote work provides in their daily lives.
